Christian County lies in southwestern Missouri, with its county seat in the city of Ozark. The county’s circuit court — part of the 38th Judicial Circuit — functions as a unified trial court divided into four operating divisions that collectively handle criminal prosecutions, civil lawsuits, domestic relations matters, juvenile cases, probate proceedings, and traffic offenses. Court records generated across these divisions are maintained by the Circuit Clerk’s office and can be accessed by the public through several in-person and electronic channels.
Missouri residents and others looking for court case data can search through county clerk offices, in-person courthouse terminals, and statewide electronic tools maintained by the judicial branch. MissouriCourts.us may also assist in locating publicly available court case information from across Missouri’s trial courts. For Christian County specifically, the Circuit Clerk serves as the primary custodian of court records, and the statewide Case.net portal provides remote electronic access to most non-confidential case filings.

Are Court Records Public in Christian County?
Court records in Christian County are presumptively open to public inspection. The Missouri Sunshine Law (Chapter 610, RSMo) classifies court records as public records, and Missouri Court Operating Rule 2 (COR 2) governs public access specifically within the judicial department. COR 2 establishes the framework for what records are available, how they can be accessed, and what protections apply to sensitive information.
Under COR 2, certain records may be temporarily or permanently restricted from public view. A prosecuting attorney, for example, may request temporary redaction of a criminal case record when a warrant has been issued — typically lasting five days or until the warrant is executed. The local court rules of the 38th Judicial Circuit further address redaction responsibilities and security-level designations for specific filings.
The following categories of information are generally treated as confidential:
- Juvenile records — Proceedings and records involving minors in delinquency, abuse, and neglect matters
- Personal identifiers — Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, state identification numbers, and financial account numbers must be redacted under COR 2.02
- Domestic violence victim information — Identifying details of victims in protection order cases
- Witness and informant data — Names and contact information of witnesses and confidential informants in certain criminal matters
- Health records — Mental health information and medical records included in court filings
- Adult and child protection orders — On Case.net, these cases can only be searched by exact case number until a full order of protection has been issued, as governed by Chapter 455, RSMo
Per the local rules, the responsibility for mandatory redaction of personal information rests solely with the filing party or their attorney. Both redacted and unredacted versions of proposed orders and judgments must be filed with the court.
