Platte County lies in northwestern Missouri, with its county seat in Platte City. The county’s courts operate within the 6th Judicial Circuit of the Missouri judiciary. The Platte County Circuit Court serves as the trial court of general jurisdiction, divided into several operational divisions that cover civil litigation, criminal prosecutions, family law, juvenile matters, probate, small claims, municipal ordinance violations, and traffic offenses. Multiple municipal courts also operate throughout the county. The Platte County Circuit Clerk’s Office functions as the official custodian and filing authority for all Circuit Court records, collecting fees, managing jurors, and processing case documents across every division.
Missouri provides several channels for searching court records, including clerk’s offices, public access terminals at courthouses, and online databases. Case.net, maintained by the Missouri judiciary, is a free statewide platform that allows the public to search court case information by litigant name, case number, or other criteria. Since July 1, 2023, Remote Public Access has expanded the ability to view, download, and print public court documents from personal devices. Additional case-related information for Missouri courts may also be found through MissouriCourts.us. Requesters who need certified copies or documents not available online should contact the Circuit Clerk’s Office directly.
